YouTube Continues to Add New Features

Posted by: | Comments (0)

Video sharing giant YouTube continues to offer up more features for it’s users. Now, you can hover your mouse over the play bar to reveal a thumbnail of what’s going on in that video at that time.

This nice new feature isn’t going to help businesses with their video rankings, but it does create an even more enjoyable experience for YouTube viewers. YouTube rolls out new features all the time. Use video marketing techniques to get more customers. It really does work.

Looks like YouTube is at it again, always changing their features. Looks like they are now displaying the percentage of ‘Likes’ a video has. They are using a color system of Red, Yellow, and Green to indicate whether the ‘Likes’ fall into mostly positive, mix of positive and negative, and mostly negative. It seems like a lot of accounts don’t have this feature yet; but lucky me, I do. What’s nice about this is the fact that I can now look at the results and skip all of those stupid rick-rolls or still image videos that most people hate clicking on. You can even search by rating now instead of just relevance or date.Screen shot below if anybody’s interested. Also, if anybody’s looking for a new niche, feel free to tackle the one I was looking up to get these results. It’s open to everybody.

The interesting thing to me is that some videos in the results don’t have any ratings percentage listed. When I looked at those videos I noticed they had likes/dislikes but there weren’t that many. It seems IMO that your video needs to have at least a total of 50 votes – regardless of if they’re positive or negative – in order to have the percent shown. I’ve already started searching by rating and I don’t even go near the videos that don’t have any percent rating. Looks like YouTube Marketers just got a new feature to figure out.

Good luck everybody!

In the world of video marketing, YouTube is king. However, there are many other video sharing sites that still get a lot of traffic. One of them being Vimeo. Vimeo has just changed its layout in order to make it easier for users to find other content on the site. With the new redesign, it’s easier for users to follow subjects, keywords, and other users. Vimeo is known for its high quality videos and simple embedded player. Vimeo found that most bloggers had accounts on both YouTube and Vimeo, yet they would always embed videos on their blogs with Vimeo’s player because there are no ads displayed over the video. With these new features, Vimeo is hoping people will be attracted to the site and use it as another marketing tool as well as for their viewing pleasure.

Video marketing is one of the newest and most powerful methods to market your services and products online. However, one of the biggest problems with video marketing is the video part. More specifically, creating the video is the hardest part. And it’s not hard to see why, with cameras, lights, microphones, and editing equipment required to make a decent looking video. There are some other options to getting at least some sort of decent video on YouTube that can market for you. All you need is a YouTube account and that’s easy to get. If you have a gmail account then you already have one. Sign in to YouTube and in the upper right corner, click your username and select ‘My Videos’. This will take you to your ‘My Videos & Playlists’ page. Near the top of this page are a couple links such as ‘My Channel’, ‘Video Editor’, ‘Create Video’, etc. Click the ‘Create Videos’ link:

This will take you to the Create Videos page. Here, you will find a list of sites that provide features such as video editing and video creation. GoAnimate is one such service. This is a pay service but they let you try it out for free. This will let let you create at least one free video, and if you like the service you can always pay for more. What’s nice about this service is it will let you enter in any script you want and then put it to an animation they already have created. When you’re finished, they let you upload it to your own YouTube channel. Once the video is on your channel, you can send it to friends via facebook or twitter, embed it on your site, and submit it to social bookmarking sites. Go try it out.

With a video like this, it would help if you knew how to market online in order to take advantage of this powerful medium. YouTube – Always Changing

Posted by: | Comments (0)

Just when you think YouTube is going to stay the same for a while, they go and change it all up on you. Today, I was uploading a new promotional video for IMTC when I found that the upload page is completely revamped. Here is what I saw:

Everything is cleaner with a new look on the upload page. Basically, all of the options are the same except that you can now upload more than one video at a time.

But the changes don’t stop there. Once you choose your file to upload, the video information page has changed as well.

Everything is still available to you as in the old video information page, but now it’s so much nicer looking. Check it out when you get a chance.

YouTube comes out with new options

Posted by: | Comments (0)

Be sure to check out YouTube when you get a chance. They have now changed the ‘As Seen On’ feature. The ‘As Seen On’ feature lets viewers know what websites that particular video is embedded on. This is very helpful for website and blog owners that post video on their sites. YouTube is now helping them get more exposure. The ‘As Seen On’ feature has also moved to just below the view count. This way it’s a lot easier to see.

Another nice new feature is the option to read comments two different ways. Now, you can read comments chronologically or related by thread. The related by thread option lets you read the comments and if somebody response to a comment, it is shown indented under the original comment. This make reading comments easier and help people stay involved with the YouTube community, which always helps keep people engaged and viewing more videos. If you know of any more new features on YouTube, leave a comment.

Facebook is a great way to promote specials and promotions for small businesses on the web. Using the power of the friends that you have spent time collecting and nurturing, businesses can get a interactive kick from comments, testimonials and post sharing with the ease that Facebook provides. In conjunction with Twitter and Youtube, businesses can plan out a promotional strategy that could put their offerings in front of the eyes of thousands of people.

A couple of weeks before any type of special promotion, the business will want to create small video productions that can be uploaded and shared on social media sites. Videos that are no longer than 2 – 3 minutes in length showing customers giving testimonials, using the products, having fun at past events… anything that creates fun and excitement. No matter what kind of business you have, there are ways to create an informative or commercial aspect to the video production.

These videos can be uploaded to Youtube and Facebook on the day before the big promotion and shared with your friends on their home news feeds. Contact your friends and followers a couple of days beforehand to solicit their comments on your wall in exchange for a special coupon or giveaway just for them. Every video you upload to Facebook or Youtube notifies all of your friends and subscribers to invite them to watch. Each of your friends that makes a comment on your Facebook Wall stating how much they like your business creates a notification to all of their friends. You have now started a domino effect that could put the promo video before the eyes of hundreds of thousands of people.

Your account administrator can leave “thank you” comments in response that will create a sense of interactivity and a personal touch. This kind of buzz is a powerful branding tool that keeps your logos and products on the top of your friends minds and makes them feel as if you care and are taking the time to connect with them.

Facebook’s “Events” tool gives you the ability to invite your friends to a special event that involves a specific date and time such as a store opening or a three day only sale. The RSVP feature in the Event tool lets staff keep track of how many people may show up or just to see how effective the promotion is going. And of course, the Facebook email system can notify all of your friends about special events and promotions that can lead them to websites where menus, additional testimonials, driving directions and printable coupons are there for the taking. The videos you can upload to Facebook will create a visual powerhouse of excitement and education that gives your social media followers something to always look forward to from your business.

As American companies look for traction in this slow-motion economic recovery, the market for marketers is back. And although these employers’ marketing needs are more diverse than ever, their marketing budgets are trim.

“So many companies are operating lean in marketing right now,” says Donna Farrugia, executive director of The Creative Group, a recruiter of interactive design and marketing professionals based in Menlo Park, California. “Professionals who have a depth and breadth to their experience — they rule right now.” Several marketing careers beckon in 2011, from social media marketing and event marketing to sports marketing jobs.

Social media is all the rage, and even if you’re seeking a traditional marketing job in a conventional industry, you’ve got to have some of the right digital stuff. “About 90 percent of marketing openings are still traditional, but the people competing for them have to understand how the emerging technologies merge with the traditional ones,” says Larry Chiagouris, a professor of marketing at Pace University in New York City.

Social Media Coordinator

“People in these marketing jobs look at Facebook and respond in the name of the company and of the brand,” Chiagouris says. But that’s just the beginning. Because this is the in-the-trenches job of the social media revolution, these go-getters are not just monitoring and measuring activity around the company brand, but also doing lots of posting themselves. They may even launch and manage social campaigns as they build bases of fans and Twitter followers. At larger companies, the social media coordinator may outsource the bulk of posting. Social media savvy, an intuitive understanding of metrics and an evangelistic attitude are the chief job requirements. Related marketing jobs: social media director, social media marketing manager.
